Welcome to my site

Several years ago I have set myself to understand what trust is - and what we can do about it. This gradually extended to cover its sister twin control and its co-dependant - identity, all driven by complexity. Apparently we have no problems perceiving that the small animal trusts the person and that the person extends trust to the animal, as shown on this picture from my wife's collection . However, when it comes to technology, machines and computers, the story gets complicated.

Even through trust (as well as control or identity) is considered usually in psychological and sociological terms, I am interested in its technical aspect, in an inter-play between the technology and the society, but seen through the lens of an engineer. This approach can be called socio-technology or techno-sociology, but regardless of its name I have found it inspiring and beneficial.

Trust, Complexity and Control

My book on trust, complexity and control has been recently published by John Wiley and Sons. If you are looking for a single reference, you may want to read it. Otherwise please select from the menu at your left and enjoy this site.

By the way. Look close at the picture at the top of this page. There is a peanut involved ... Trust is not always what it seems to be.
